It's a good game. Just play it once through and don't talk to people about it. After you beat it once, then talk to people. The game is basically "meant" to be replayed a few times.
Really though, don't talk to people about it. It's a well made game with a lot of attention to detail, which is why I like it, but people will either spoil it for you or shit on you for playing it.
Play it in a bubble, like you are the only person who knows about it. It's the only way to avoid faggots.

Anything other than pacifist and genocide is just unsatisfying, there's not much reason to play unless you go for either purely one or the other. One of the biggest flaws with it.
