Play the tutorials. Then play around in training with the character of your choice until their moveset clicks with you and you get an idea for how all their moves work. After that it's just playing against human opponents and trial and error until you git gud.

Nice try, but Gen 1 was good for its time but has now been overshadowed by it's countless better sequels. I would rate the gen 1 game a 6/10 mostly because there is some great stuff in it but so many things gross by today's standards. If released in this day and age as some indie game no one would give a shit because it is gross and broken. Most fondness comes from nostalgia. It was impressive for it's time but only play it if you're curious to see how pokemon got it's start, other than that stick to Gen 2 and beyond unless you want a good Kanto adventure play FR and LG
