I usually start with Battle Litany and Blood for Blood, then Heavy Thrust, Leg Sweep during cool down, Phlebotomize for DoT, Jump during cool down, then go into Chaos Thrust combo, using Power Surge during Impulse Drive's cool down and Spineshatter Dive during Disembowl's cool down.
Then I reapply Heavy Thrust, go into True Thrust combo, saving Life Surge for Full Thrust.
As far as Dragonfire Dive goes, I'll either use it to get close to the enemy right after applying Battle Litany and Blood for Blood, or right after my Life Surge Full Thrust. Then rinse and repeat from the Chaos Combo when the debuffs run out.
I'm pretty casual with FFXIV though, so that might a garbage set up.

AST was complete and utter garbage upon release, I don't think anyone can deny that. I'm surprised Squeenix released a class that was basically half-finished. It was so bad.
Now, though, they're better than WHM post-progression, which is basically the first week that content comes out.
The raw healing power of WHM isn't needed and the DPS buffs AST brings are much better. Plus, their MP regen is far better now.

it's basically impossible for an AST to run out of Mp at this point since Luminiferous Aether, which at launch was equivalent to Shroud of Saints (80 potency refresh for 15 seconds), was buffed to a whopping 24 seconds.
In addition they have Ewer which is a 50 potency refresh for 15 seconds. Plus they can use Celestial Opposition for a 5 second buff extension while they're at it.
Honestly I'm trying to think about what's fair for Luminiferous Aether being a 24 second MP regen now instead of equal to Shroud of Saints. But then again AST doesn't have Assize either I guess.

I don't know if you're still here, but that's the nature of openers: you go all out at the start of a fight. Here's what I do during shit like Midas:
Pop internal release just before I use Heavy Thrust, pop Battle Littany, impulse thrust, pop BFB, Disembowel, pop BotD, Chaos Thrust, pop power surge, F&G/WT, Jump, and your Full Thrust combo, popping Life Surge on that to get the benefit of BFB on your auto crit, then geirskogul and F&C/WT, rinse and repeat as needed. Always stare at your Disembowel and BotD timers for your CT combo.
Always use power surge + jump if you can since it's your most damaging crit, even more than full thrust.. Don't be a shitter and just pop it before looking at your CDs (I see a lot of people do this). If you can get BFB on it, even better.
Leg sweep can be used any time if it's a boss that can't be stunned/doesn't matter if anything is stunned, so just use it on literally any downtime between GCDs. Same with spineshatter, just make sure BotD is up when you do it.
DRG is really easy but there are so many shitters that make it look hard.

Use PF tardface, I've cleared T5 synced without echo and even minimum ilvl with new players multiple times in the past month alone. Lots of people join parties like that.
Good luck getting a T9 party though, that's the real problem because unlike T5 you can't just teach a newcomer to do it in a couple of runs.

-Longest MP refresh in the game (24 seconds)
-Ewer
-The ability to extend all MP refreshments by 5 seconds
WHM has:
-SoS
-Assize
-Freecure procs
Scholar has:
-Aetherflow
-Energy Drain
AST actually has the BEST MP management out of all three healers in the game right now, theoretically. You're not really going to be using Ewer on yourself though.
Besides that, AST is pretty much on par with SCH right now in terms of actual MP regen, even surpassing it in some instances. WHM has a lot of options but trail the other two.

I've been in situations like this on both ends, and honestly, it's both of your faults.
Tanks constantly bitch in those situations about "muh lack of heals" but none of them ever pop the cooldowns they're SUPPOSED to use in those situations, and then when you point it out, they usually come up with some bullshit excuse about "I shouldn't have to use it." Despite the fact that, y'know, that's what it's there for.
As a healer:
