MGS5 is good, it's just disappointing at the same time. There's a lot of little things that stack up that sort of makes the game kind of dull after a while, and I don't just mean that the game expects you to re-do missions you already completed (but this time it's kind of hard) and calls that a 2nd chapter.
Guards are totally blind and deaf past 15 meters even in daylight, and there's never a reason to do anything during the day unless you want a change of scenery. No matter how many times you slaughter an outpost or base, it's reinforcements won't be any tougher the next time. No matter how far you progress in the story, outposts and bases in free roam don't get any more challenging and never get new equipment or vehicles - you'd think after you start seeing dozens of walkers in missions random patrols would start including them, and there's never any enemy tanks out in free roam. FOBs are pointless and just steal away your resources and lock them on a shitty multiplayer component, and I've only ever been called to defend an FOB once and I've only ever seen an enemy defender two or three times, not that it matters cuz it's impossible for the attacker to win once the defender shows up so it's a moot point. Battle Gear is hyped up as this badass thing and then all it amounts to is a requirement for certain dispatch missions; you never see it in action or get to pilot it yourself. There's no real punishment for getting spotted or murdering everything in sight, and going out of your way to blow up communications equipment in bases is pointless. Except the air radars, which never get repaired AFAIK, not that I really noticed any difference in letting them stay up or destroying them.
It's a good game and I don't really regret paying full price for it. I never checked to see if there were any mods for it; I'm sure they'd fix a lot of my complaints, at least in the single player mode.

They start wearing helmets if you go for headshots alot aswell. They never really switch up tactics or anything deeper than that though.

That's the extent of a difficulty increase in free roam. Some guards get new equipment. One or two might get riot gear, some might have a shotgun or LMG, or flashlights, but that's it. They'll never show up with walkers or tanks to fight you, even if you call in your own tank or you've been clearing a swath of destruction across the countryside. You can have Pequod strafe the shit out of a base forever and they'll never call in a helicopter or something to help; only a couple of the bigger bases in free roam have a helicopter on stand by and if you shoot it down that's it until you reload the area. Random patrols pretty much consist only of a couple guys in a truck, or 4-6 guys tops walking down a road with no support.
By the time the new equipment starts becoming noticeable, you can probably send out so many dispatch missions at once to destroy equipment sheds and convoys it doesn't even matter. And you get money and recruits even for doing something like that, so there's no reason not to.

In fact, I think Singularity and the Metro stuff are the only FPS's I've actually LIKED in the past decade. Far too many of them have faggot ass multiplayer shit tacked on because muh CoD, and the singleplayer is garbage because of it.
