When is Pascal getting released? I only have a Radeon 7850 and The Division is kicking it's ass. I got $350, the GTX 970 has the memory issue and I don't think my 500 watt PSU can handle a 390/390X.

Why are the ~$300 cards so shitty at the moment?
>>
>>331735145
they aren't shitty, the 390/x and the 200 series preceding it are fantastic cards

your 7850 is basically a ps4. play it at medium-low settings and cap the framerate at 30.

Pascal and Polaris are both slated for June I think so if I were you I'd hold out. It's gonna be a long wait but I'm seriously surprised you made it this far. I already upgraded from a 7950 to a 290x and am hoping to hold off for another year at least
>>
>>331735339
The Division feels pretty terrible at 30FPS with the 7850. I mean it says 30 FPS but the frame times are all over the place. Thats with using Riva Tuner to lock max FPS to 30, which got rid of frametime fluctuations in Witcher 3.

Anyone have experience with EVGA's trade up program? Does an AMD partner have a similar program?
>>
>>331735145
The 970 plays literally anything on ultra 1080p, what's your qualm?
>>
>>331735583
>spending $350 on a card for 1080p
why would OP do that?
>>
>>331735145
>memory issue

Lel it uses all 4000mb at 60fps with evert single one of my games.
>>
>>331735526
You're a fucking dweeb falling into a marketing scheme if you think that 60fps>30fps and not 30fps=60fps.
>>
Sometimes I wonder if there was an error at the factory and I really have a better card than a 660, because I'm able to run Division on it fine on high
>>
>>331735669
your card has 3.5gb of VRAM dumbass, choking on a 4" dick doesnt change that
>>
>>331735659
aren't they like $280?
>>
>>331735583
Sometime withing the next 3-6 months I can get a GPU that plays literally anything at 2560x1440 for the same price.

I know leaks and roadmaps get leaked on crazy Russian benchmark sites. I was hoping someone could nail down at least a release month.
>>
>>331735679
>this entire post
>>
>>331735659
Presumably OP has $300 and expects more graphically advanced games to come out? Maybe OP has some cash and wants a $300 range card, period. Maybe OP is going to invest in some of that VR shit? No matter how you round it there's nothing wrong with paying /$320/ to support the industry at the very least.
>>
>>331735145

There won't be any Pascal cards worth getting until next year. Either suck it up til then or settle for the best bang for buck around now.

I'm still running a 760 and it's not that big a deal not being able to run on "ultra" settings for another year.
>>
>>331735718
And how has that affected my performance? My games use up all 4GB and I've never seen it slow down. Also it stays under 65C with fans maxing out at 38% which isn't even audible while gaming.

Your move retard.
>>
>>331735145

Polaris is coming out in a few months retardo
>>
>>331735679
you do realize that 30fps=60fps IS the marketing scheme for consoles? you're genuinely retarded
>>331735725
yeah on black friday
>>331735526
>>331735756
I've heard good things about EVGA upgrade program. I'd look into that. Buy a 960 for now and trade it in for a cheap whatever you want come summer. Sounds good to me if that works out

for me I have an overclocked 290x that will last me through 1440p I'm hoping. Will uprgade to whatever will do at 4k what my 290x does at 1440p

I still lay awake at night lamenting the fact I passed on the $250 290x's in December.
>>
>>331735756
Most of what has been said about Pascal at the very least is unimpressive for the end-user types. Most of it's industrial workload enhancement type shit unfortunately. Insofar as a release nothing has come vaguely close to an actual confirmation but May or June would be a good speculation. Polaris looks like it will be the stronger hardware for this generation in any case so I'd keep my eye on that, which is currently just as elusive.
>>
GTX 970 is like the easiest GPU in the world to sell. Just pick one up and sell whenever the GTX 1070 or whatever releases.

This nigga says Pascal is coming late May

https://benchlife.info/gp104-aka-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-will-ship-in-may-and-no-hbm2-031112016/

What is FACT is that Nvidia's CEO will be showing Pascal off first week of April at GTC. If you wait until then you might be able to get a release date

>>331735963
what I did last summer was pick up a stock one for literally $200 and slap a $60 custom air cooler on it. One of the best computer purchases I've ever made
>>
I'm with you OP. GTX 960 and R9 380 are really good $200 cards. 980 Ti is great at the top end.

Everything in between comes with a caveat. GTX 970 memory issue, R9 390/X power usage (not so bad if you are building around the requirement from the ground up), 980 price performance, Fury 4GB ram limit.

I don't care about VR but I need to figure out if I want Polaris or Pascal so I can decide on Freesync or Gsync.
>>
>>331735145
Get Polaris you Gaylord
>>
>>331736316
WHEN NIGGA?

I have no allegiance, Which ever $300-$350 card comes out first and isn't shit wins.
>>
>>331736381
I thought latest roadmap put them in summer, but no exact dates have been announced. So stop asking - nobody knows, or at least no one is willing to share
>>
>>331736260
how much vram does your 970 have
>>
>>331736314
freesync. its literally exactly the same except you will save $200 on your monitor and it will essentially be future proof. displayport 1.3 and HDMI 2.0a will have freesync by default so when you buy a fancy new 4k TV in 2 years it'll have freesync, not gsync
>>
Is The Division even worth getting this riled up over?
>>
>>331735756
>3-6 months

More like next February/March. You should know that's what happens with die shrinks.
>>
Get a PS4, the division looks great there.
>>
>>331736504
no, but obviously every other game he's playing is having trouble with a 7850
>>
>>331736560
We are already a whole generation behind.
>>
>>331736459
4GB with a .5gb partition that only needs accessed if your running ridiculous resolutions or dual monitor set-ups. It's the stronkest card for its price point when you factor in NVIDIA 'optimizing' games for developers to leverage the market.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COEwgUI6D3w

Technically speaking while the last fragmented 1gb share the same l2 crossbar it really isn't a problem unless you are writing and reading at the same time to both 512mb chipsets modules.
>>
>>331736459
How much? 4.0 GB everyone knows that. I needn't aak your opinion on how much you think there is, because frankly plenty of users would report to you that it indeed has 4.0 GB

That is if they weren't too busy playing games at 1080p on ultra. Instead of shitposting about things they don't own.

all the rumor sites have been saying "Pascal in a few months!" for a long time

I don't expect it to come out this year.
>>
>>331736863
I does have 4GB dipshit, the last (and very marginal) .5GB is has less efficient bandwidth management than the other 3.5 so it can, when accessed, cause a very negligible shudder in some occasions. Frankly only shit eating freaks would ever push it past 3GB in any relatively well optimized game, which would warrant a step-up to the 980(ti) anyways.

enough to play almost any game @ 1080p 144fps on high/max settings.

Cunt?

I bought an EVGA 970, if Pascal gets released first and within 3 months I can send it back to EVGA, pay the difference, and get a Pascal card. If Polaris comes out first and is worth it I'll just flip the 970 and pick up a Polaris.

G-guys. How much longer can I play vidya on GTX780? Even DaS3 wants GTX970 as recommended.
I wanted to hold off until Pascal hits, but I don't want a silky smooth PS4 experience with DaS3.
