Sonic 3 was a great improvement over its predecessor adding new features, bigger levels, better graphics and improved gameplay.
Super Mario World was a step back from Super Mario 3. The game is certainly still enjoyable, but it wasn't anywhere as revolutionary as SMB3 was to the Mario formula.
Sonic 3 wins.
Sonic sucks dick, game about going fast punishes you for going fast. Mario is objectively superior in every aspect except maybe music (arguably).
