Basically, in factorio, you try to automate absolutely everything. You build drills to mine copper, iron, coal, and stone. You move the shit around with conveyor belts and trains and flying robots. You turn it into stuff using your various machines. It's fun.

I haven't gotten around to playing this despite a very strong appeal. I know people like to compare it to Minecraft factory mods. I never used any mods in Minecraft, yet my ultimate goal has always been to automate everything.

did you play any tycoon game with production chains? like settlers. wheat -> flour -> bread or something?
Now expand that production chain to infinity and add that to top down survival/crafting game with ability to automate every process via machines and conveyor belts.
