Other than that, it's a recurring 3K beatstick thanks to it being a pendulum monster. So, it's pretty decent, but nothing amazing.

There's actually a funny reason behind that. Takahashi wrote two chapters about a game called Magic and Wizards, kids liked it and sent in a bunch of letters about it (which is a common thing for Jump readers in Japan), Shueisha thought it would be a good way to make the series into a marketing franchise (they even started calling it Duel Monsters just so they could avoid copyright issues with Magic: The Gathering), then they made Takahashi focus on Duel Monsters entirely. This is also why Dragon Ball Z exists and why it continued after the Freiza arc, why Butsu Zone got retooled into Shaman King, and why Yuyu Hakusho dragged on forever. The publisher has more power over these series than the actual writer.
