What retro games have soundtracks that sound amazing when translated into heavy metal?
So far the most common is DooM, Sonic, Pokemon, Mario, Shovel Knight and bits of games like Castle Crashers and Crypt of the Necrodancer.

That's good too, but nowadays metal in videogames tends to sound fairly generic.
I was moreso getting at classic, memorable tunes from games that translate well.

F-Zero Guitar Arrange was a fantastic album, they took a bunch of F-Zero tracks and rerecorded them. Amazing how good they came out.
