It's alright. Solid capacity for teamwork, which really helps it in the "fun with friends" department. Wouldn't play solo. Probably worth around $40.

The only thing related to Gears is the cover system. it has nowhere near the mobility of Gears, well atleast Gears 3. The other 2 are clunky as fuck.

Ubisoft's DRM: Uplay, is required, fairly short story, little to no endgame (aside from grinding for minor stat upgrades), and classic "bullet sponge" enemies. The PvP has potential, but there are harsh penalties for engaging in it, and there's no structured PvP system for people who just want to engage in semi-organized urban combat.
Honestly it's not terrible, but it's not worth $60 either. Pick it up this summer when it hits $30-40 and actually has more content, get in on the ~week long rush of players, put it down and never touch it again.
