While I like the series, this guy sums it up pretty well.
It's way too repetitive. I know that's kind of the "point" of these beat 'em up type games, but it feels like they could have done a lot more with it.
For example, the wall running is really cool, but you don't get to use it often since the levels aren't too big and aren't meant to be traversed like a platformer. It could have had something going for it like Shinobi on PS2.

Spiders, single-katana users, golems(Who make sense to have it), nagas, the Yukki-onna(They seem to have it though I could be wrong), and all bosses have it. The only way you can avoid it from happening is by using a special buff(Hibari, Katsuragi, and Hikage with one scroll and pressing heavy attack) or going into Frantic mode since all their attacks seem to stun anything with super armor. Occasionally you have strong attacks/breach attacks that can bypass them as well, I think Yomi's crossbow does it and Yagyu's strong will do at as well.
If you're not in either of those settings then every attack that isn't a ground smash(The jump + smash down launching stuff) will cause everything to tank your attacks while launching their own and cancelling yours. I'm not sure if it's just me but doing air raids on the enemies that have super armor would cause them to gain it in the air after a few hits, and for bosses they only gain super armor after you've retaliated against a combo(Like three or four hits) or they're doing a Ninja Art.
It's just really annoying since it's either Ninja Art spam, ground slam spam into three or four combos, or frantic mode against most things you fight and makes normal combos pretty pointless against anything bigger than the skulls really. Then you get characters like Dogen who have huge combo chains and give you like half a second to retaliate.

There are a million ways this game could have been made better easily without sacrificing anime tits or cute girls. Mini-games, missions with different objectives even if its just rehashing game modes like capture the bra. Giant Boss enemies that aren't main characters. Integrating the groping mechanics into the gameplay. Cutscenes that aren't just VN with models doing diorama poses. (Didn't even show us the yoma or Miyabi's mother??) Bikinis/underwear that aren't just the same thing a million times in slightly different colors acquire through a long and tedious lottery. A blocking and parry system that wasn't absolute garbage and is more fluid with character movement. Giving the Shinobi Girls Heart missions some kind of gimmick that makes them different from the main mission and everything else, because its just more of the same. Not playing the entire first 2 hours of the game on the same beach level.
Unfortunately it seems this series is as mediocre and disappointing as Neptunia when you're not fapping to it. The girls are great. Happy boobs yes. But ultimately it is still low budget kusoge.
