I'll never understand how Killer Instinct gained such a following. I remember the few times I went to a friends house, out of boredom he'd pop in KI and basically mash out 100 hit combos against the computer, thinking he was hot shit.
Told him I'll bring over SF 3 since he had a Dreamcast at the time. After 3 matches he didn't want to play anymore, called it 'boring' and went back to KI.
Stopped going to his house after that day, been like 15 years since I last spoken to him.

It's button mashy as fuck but that's with combo assist on. The game itself is fine, it's still got a solid online community and the learning curve of the game is a little easier cause the tutorial. I'm amateur as fuck at fighting games but KI seems to be the easier one to play for me.

The pools were incredibly stacked in SF5. He was a in a pool with zero top players and didn't fight any major player until Tokido and got his shit pushed in.
It's clear that capcom demanded to give a couple western players make it to the top when every japanese player had to go through hell pools while the western players got a free ride to the top.

He got sent into losers by Brenttiscool, who then proceeded to get wiped in winners and then losers.
I watched a good deal of his pools and matches in top 128 and it's very apparent that this early in SFV almost nobody knows the Fang matchup. I don't want to say that was the entire reason for his success, as he's certainly a skilled player, but I think he'll have a harder time as people learn how to escape his double projectile mixups (like Tokido did)
