By far the most fun I ever had was playing a Summoner / Boner hybrid. My pure summoner had the best gear and was max level, but my boner summoner was maximum fun. Bone spearing the shit out of everything while a wall of skeletons protected me was cool, and then teleporting all over with Enigma and boning everyone was a blast.

Paladin outclassed Barbarian so hard it wasn't even funny in fact all I remember from D2 multiplayer is hordes of Paladins and Witches as every other class was shit.

it's hella fun until you run hell difficulty and fire immunes are everywhere
it's not really meant for solo play, you can tank anything with your huge health and keep group of enemies stunlocked with shockwave for your buddies/merc to DPS them
Summon necro probably 2nd favorite, it's just really safe and can be successful without godly gear

I've never seen a summon necro accomplish anything but lag in hell. Even by nightmare they're pretty shit.
The guy who summons all of his skeles on a run is only slightly less annoying than a guy who casts bone wall everywhere, and about as useful.
Runewords made the game too casual.
