What is the best current FPS available? What are your favorites?
I am in the mood for an FPS. I haven't touched the genre in a very long time. I used to love Quake and UT, and I played and loved Halo up to 3, and Gears 1 and 2. Liked Borderlands for the guns but hated the "humor".
The point is, since then I haven't found an enjoyable FPS. I tried Destiny at launch but it was shit. Is it different now? If not, what is actually good? Of course I have the new UT that is in pre alpha but it is pretty limited at the moment.

Not the biggest Doom fan though I did play them. Having a hard time getting excited for the new Doom game. It is weird because I like Halo but I guess not when it is supposed to be Doom.

It's without a doubt one of the only good FPS games available these days. Well, provided you're looking for multiplayer, which I assumed.

Maybe I should have specified "recent" fps. I avidly played them up until like 2009. I also am looking for multiplayer mainly. Haven't tried the new Wolfenstein though. Looks pretty alright.

The only "recent" multiplayer FPS that isn't shit right this fucking moment is probably TF2 and soon Overwatch. I literally can't think of anything else that doesn't suck.

I am reading that Tribes Ascend recently got revamped and is better now than it was before. I may have to try it.

What is the status of Planetside 2? Is it completely shit? I played it for a couple days a year or 2 ago and I kind of liked it.
And now this is a TPS, but Warframe, like Destiny looks like it would be good but I have heard it is actually complete shit and a worse grind than Destiny. Binary Domain looks alright too on the subject of TPS.

Didn't really care for Wolfenstien TNO.

The last "modern" fps I enjoyed was Bulletstorm. DOOM is the last chance I'm giving the genre.
Based on this thread I will be giving Tribes and Plantside 2 a try because I like going fast and I also like huge maps with lots of vehicles.
If I want some single player I will try the new Wolfenstein.
One more question, is Halo Online still a thing? Is it shit?
