Why are all cities in GTA surrounded by bodies of water?

Only way to create open worlds without invisible barriers or stupid looking mountains/cliffs.

>More commercial space than residential space
Is it like China where the majority of building space is abandoned?

Because it's more logical. The Earth is more water than actual earth.
Also it's easier on the game engine. You don't have to render shit on water, or apply a detail texture that isn't going to show people it's just miles and miles of one flat green stain.

It's amazing how they hid so many secrets in such a small map.
Like this guy said >>331488762, it's easy to make without having to have weird justifications about why you can't go further inland.
Also, I guess it's just a thing they do, now.

How long do you think they spent making this map? 3 hours? Vice City more like Vice Village

New Vice City WHEN?
They could have a separate "Caribbean" island to provide interesting terrain since Miami and surrounding is flat as a pancake

is that really how big it was? jesus, so tiny.
>>331488560
that's the sims 3 version of vice city isn't it
so the map can have boundaries without relying on invisible walls.
Also, it's amazing how big that map felt back in the day and how small it looks now.

That's what I was thinking. Looks like a Sims 3 town.

It was smaller than GTA3 and everyone prefers GTA:VC except retards.
Just proves that people who constantly whinge about the next game not being bigger are stupid.
