I've recently taken a shining to Persia. Their unique ability is strong all game and doesn't shoehorn you into a particular win condition. Having that much versatility in one civ is a lot of fun. Shoshone are also a blast in the early game, taking all the best ruin bonuses and settling territory bonused cities.
