Sounds like a complaint against the masses to me. They're the ones who latch onto trends and throw them away when they're no longer in vogue. The masses have always been unintelligent compared to the relatively cultured few.

Neither changes the fact that video games are a victim of their time and have virtually no chance to evolve into anything worthwhile due to it having no cultural equivalent of an aristocracy or a high culture to demand a collective push for higher standards. I never argued that video games are inherently shit because of their format.
