Anime was awful. If your taste is so bad that you liked it, you'll like the game. If you didn't like the anime, you'll hate the game. If you haven't watched the anime, it will feel mediocre.

Why do they call it Sword Art online if only the first 1/10th of the story takes place in it, PLUS they paraphrase it

Game is great and a lot better than the anime could hope to be, however, you're gonna be a bit lost when it comes to the characters and their relation to you, the MC, but beyond that it's a typical action RPG in the vain of PSO and .hack games w/ some VN segments.

The translation is machine done, so there's some fuck ups and Engrish, but honestly it's not bad enough that you don't understand what is being said.
