Despite all of our disagreements, can /v/ agree that mainstream games with competitive ranking systems are absolute cancer?
What about the ranking system is bad? I don't play either of the games in the picture.
Why is having no system better? Do you want people to just get stomped on all the time? Is that fun?
I don't see any reason why it would be bad. People who care too much about it and have less fun because of it is dumb, but that's there fault.

but that's the thing. a competitive ranking system makes people more toxic and makes for a terrible gaming environment. Sure you can say it's their fault but when one person gets pissed, it ruins it for everyone else.

not all games with ranking systems have teamwork. Street Fighter V has LP and theres no toxic behavior. youre thinking of mobas and team-based FPS or mmo ladders

Yes there is, which I enjoy. I logged 20 hours into rocket league and thought trying ranked would be cool. People are more angry, will leave the match if the other team scores in the first minute and spam forfeits.

Never got into fighting games so not sure how the system works, but I've seen livestream clips of SF player going apeshit and ragequitting for losing. Guessing it was probably a ranked match. It's not direct toxicity, but still shit behavior.

thats about as close to no ranking system as you can get.
the higher the ranks the closer the games are, generally.
(not saying it never happens, its just less common)
