How do I git gud? I lose against the second easiest AI
>>331173256
can i buy it from GoG yet? I have limited access to the Internet and can't be running steam all the time. offline mode has never worked it just bitches and demands a 50mbps connection or else.
>>331176180
nope
that's weird, offline mode works fine for me
Is the single player campaign limited to one faction only?
I'm not interested in online matches
>>331178364
As far as I know it's only the imperial guard. It's a crisis management where you start with everything and try not to lose stuff.
>>331176415
offline mode has failed to work for me on 3 computers now. tell it to start in offline mode and it still bitches at me to give it an Internet connection and won't allow any games to run offline.
>>331178826
IG =\= Imperial Navy.
Game out? Why steam never tell me when my preorder game is out? Fuck, this pisses me off.
>>331179030
it's not out but you can play imperials and chaos in the beta (essentially just a demo)
>>331179962
Oh, i don't have time for beta anyway.
I wish steam had release date next to game in library instead of date when i brought it.
I buy games then totally forget about them.
>>331180842
Cool, thanks anon.
How is it so far? Fun?
>>331175070
Play other playershah
If you're playing chaos, you need to kite. You aren't meant to manfight Imperial Navy ships at close range, and they will win when you try. You're faster, have longer ranged guns, and less armor than them. Put it to use.
If you're imperial, arrange to get in close, focus fire, and remember to set abilities you don't want to micro to autocast (boarding, for me, unless it's data retrieval.)
Prayer and fealty to the immortal God-Emperor of Mankind help too.
>>331176180
You wouldn't want it anyway; they're dropping patches during the beta and stuff; you'll be needing to connect to steam to update every few days/once a week.
Wait until release, or just before. Still get free spess mehreens within two months of release.
>>331178364
Yes, it's Imperial only. IT also has skirmish-vs-AI that's basically identical to skirmish-vs-players. I don't normally like MP/pvp, but I'm enjoying the hell out of this. Sometimes you're the car, sometimes you're the dog, just roll with the blows and move on.

I can link some videos I made for the /tg/ threads, but I'm having a blast. It's grindy- ie, you start at low level, with a few light cruisers to play with, and then play matches, win or lose to gain renown and XP, use renown to buy upgrades and new ship slots. Both your 'admiral' and your actual ships gain XP; the former levels YOU up and unlocks higher point missions and the ability to buy new ship slots of higher classes; the latter upgrades a ship's capabilities and resources, basically.
Having said that, it's not a particularly offensive grind. I'm not one for jrpg bullshit, but I'm having a blast with it. I've literally played games that were worse on release (buggier, less feature complete, less polish, etc) than this is in beta. I feel like I'm starving for renown when I've lost a few matches, I feel pretty flush with it when I've won a few, but never quite have enough to get everything I think I want. Don't feel like I'm getting hung up and taking forever to level/progress either. It seems pretty well measured to me.
If you lose a ship in a multiplayer match, it's unusable for a few matches while it's being replaced, then the ship doesn't get any XP the next match it's used in. Or you can pay to have it instantly repaired but the crew still get the XP penalty for one match. It does encourage you to warp out ships rather than waste them needlessly in foregone struggles.
>>331184637
Is this a buy2play game? What you're describing sounds like some sort of F2P MMO where things have cooldowns and you're "encouraged" to pay to skip the ship repairs.
>>331184756
Oh god no.
Well, actually, I can kinda see where you're coming from. One of the dev's previous titles was a but-to-play moba with spaceships... this does actually resemble a moba a bit. If it was nice and sedately paced. And you controlled your entire team at once.
Renown (the currency) is rewarded for every engagement, win or lose. More for winning. You can use this to repair ships, if you get 'em blowed up. (Or severely damaged.) You do use this to train crews in skills (Judgement of Heaven there has four skill slots I can fill in that image,) fit upgrades, and pay for new ship slots when you unlock them. There is no cash-4-XP/renown shop anywhere in or out of game.
This is to (I imagine) gate the gains on ships/upgrades/etc; you have to earn enough both of XP and 'cash' to pimp out your ships and customize them towards whatever role you want. IT's leveled and all because customizing ships is a big part of the game; it requires you to actually earn your leveled, customized dudes.
It'd be like playing multiplayer in XCOM if you actually had to start all your troopers out at level one and level them up solely through multiplayer.

Ok cool. Can you paint your ships pretty colours? How do the marks of chaos work for the best faction? They look pretty cool visually, can I slap a rusemaster blue and gold egyptian motif all over my ships and do a Thousand Sons fleet?
Can somebody post some nice webms of the game so I can see if it's my kind of thing or not?
Have to say, the production values on this seem pretty good when you consider it's published by a B-publisher and made by some minor studio.
>>331185213
Fleet painter isn't available yet. It's slated to be, and it's got a button on the UI, but like save/load campaign, orks, and eldar, it's greyed out for the tutorial. They've promised it will not be pay-for DLC. So far they do seem rather decent about not breaking up the game to try and sell piecemeal.
EAch side can buy a 'favor' for a ship. Best faction gets Inquisition, Adeptus Mechanicus, Imperial Navy, or Astartes. Filthy dumb chaos scum get the four Marks. Orks get clans, eldar probably get craftworlds or something.
IIRC they're something like
Khorne: +10 to troop strength, daemonic hit-and-run attacks.
Nurgle: +20 to troop strength, Plague Locusts (deal passive damage to other ships within 2500 range
Slaanesh: triples insubordination chances for enemy ships within range(maybe on the map at all?) and target ship cannot use abilities.
Tzeentch: Deploy a gascloud (cover, cloaking) that affects only friendly units, and send a clone/mirror image off in target direction (then reactivate to switch places with it)
Imperium gets like;
Inquisition: +1 to all crew types, Emperor's Tarot: Identify target sensor blip 1/3 minutes
Mechanicus: +1 ship skill, half cost for upgrades and repairs
Imperial Navy: Immune to insubordination, summon a cobra escort on a three minute cooldown (free extra (tiny) ship basically)
Astartes: +10 troop value, terminator deep strike/hit and run.

Cannot into webms. I can offer some youtubes clips I made badly for /bfgg/ on /tg/.
Convoy attack: https://youtu.be/bViPaSMeUKI
Convoy defense: https://youtu.be/20qcsmWAMdY
Station assault: https://youtu.be/6i22G3BV04Y
Best I can do for ya.
>>331185660
Right?
>>331185808
And is it faithful to the tabletop? I'm not /tg/ but I like the 40k universe and the video games are a way for me to familiarise myself with the stuff.
>>331185904
It's a vidya. Tabletop is a turn based thing, this is real time. There's inherently going to be some departures.
It clearly was lovingly modeled on the tabletop though, and goes out of its way to keep things lore-coherent and abiding.Even some of the less overt lore.
Also, geeze, I'd love to be up all night shilling this to you because I'm adoring the game, but I really do have to sleep. Still, if you've got questions and this thread dies, head over to /tg/, they have a battlefleet gothic thread around the clock lately. Tell them anon sent you, they'll treat you right.
>>331186042
Night anon, thanks for the post
>>331185808
Tzeentch sounds fun as fuck to play, but hard. I might need to check the chaos side of things.
Can I get matched up with people who have favors when I don't or vice versa?
Cranking up the volume and bass while watching two ships rip into each other with broadsides makes me feel a certain way in this game
