What do you think about chromatic abberation in videogames?
it's not as bad as brown and bloom

People like to shit on it in Bloodborne but I think it fits there, it gives it a more dreamlike/eerie appearance. But this is coming from someone that usually doesn't mind chromatic aberration
the only game i've played so far where it hasn't annoyed me was alien isolation

It hurts.
I'm still not sure on what it is exactly.
hurts my eyes

Literally making things look blurry and distorted. It's something that's been a big problem with cameras for a long time, that they've worked very hard on removing.
I don't mind it.
I think you didn't spell it properly, but that's not super important
>>331165948
turn that shit down bro
>>331165948
what game?
>>331166227
blur + making colours bleed red/green/blue. it's like the developer equivalent of photoshop filter rape when they want to make something look more interesting or retro and would rather do it in post processing rather than put effort into it. some games really abuse it
>>331165948
Absolute shit.
>>331165948
Awful. There are no lenses in vidya, so why make it look like it's being recorded with a shitty one?
>>331165948
It's the latest shitty visual fad in media for reasons that are too retarded for me to comprehend. In an age where we should be expanding past camera and video limitations instead we embrace them as if they're artistic or a "must have" to enhance whatever it's applied to. Personally it's all one big fucking headache and the sooner it's gone, and the people who think it's a good idea and applies it, the better.
I haven't played many games with it, but in general I think it looks terrible when people apply it as an after effect to their art. I'm not sure why someone would want to include something that's generally classified as a problem in photography to their visuals.
Even if it's done for "artistic" reasons, it still just looks bad and creates eye strain.

It is a problem with lenses were light gets dispersed, just like through a prism, leading to different colors focusing on different points. Why people implement this problem into video games as a feature, god only knows.
>>331167297
Because they wanted to make it look more retro. That's why it was in Alien Isolation, and other devs just said "lol lets throw it in ours cause it looks cool".
>>331165948
I fucking hate it and it needs to fucking die
I want the person who invented to be publicly executed.
And I want to watch it while I pleasure myself
>The Division lets you turn it off, even on console
More of this, please.
>/v/ can't into artistic choice
>>331165948
Video game artists have become.e retarded. This is the only industry in which they attempt to implement flaws film and photo are trying to fix.
