What the fuck does "meme game" mean other than "game I don't like"?
>>
>>331139849
Borderlands 2.
>>
>>331139849
something thats popular for the wrong reasons
>>
>>331139849
Games that make you feel like you're reading a reddit thread instead of playing an actual video game.
>>
>>331139849
It refers to a game that has writing or other components that ride on the coattails of ideas that are concurrent with pop culture on the internet.
>>
>>331140502
Ive never been to reddit, so how do I know if what Im playing is a reddit thread?
>>
>>331140348

A game that's to hard for /v/.
>>
>>331139849
I take it as meaning flavor of the month game.
>>
Something like Blands 2 or [thing] Simulator.
Never heard it by a definition other than "game I don't like" on /v/ tho.
>>
the meme game for wii u
>>
>>331140661
Isn't that every game?
>>

>le witty one liner
>le witty cliche response
>sarcastic witty one liner
>Haha, sarcastic counter.

>Strong, sassy females
>Bumbling male characters

And let's not forget
>Literally mimicking memes, or meme like things in your video game instead of actually thinking up of jokes
>>
Just like meme, it has no meaning anymore.
>>
>>331139849
A game that has viral popularity due to the social aspect of the experience is greater than the quality of the game itself.
Because games like Undertale and FNAF are fun to share experiences with friends, the popularity spreads like a meme.
>>
>>331140467
Basically this
It's a game that people only say is good because they're told by there friends and ecelebs that it's good
The first thing that comes to mind for me is Skate 3; it sold pretty fucking average until jacksepticeye played it. Apparently EA had to start production of copies again because the demand surged so much

Undermeme, I don't get why people like it, the fighting sucks, the story sucks, the comedy sucks, everything about it sucks yet everyone was sucking it's dick like there was no tomorrow when it came out.

Everyone else has shit taste apparently.
>>
>>331141001
>implying none of those can't be good when done with a good story and doesn't go overboard
>>
>>331141081
Have you considered that you might have shit taste?
>>
>>331141081
You
>>
>>331141081
>EVERYONE WHO DOESN'T LIKE WHAT I LIKE HAS SHITTY TASTE

go outside.
>>
>>331141153
The point is that they're not done well in the scenario that we're currently discussing. That's what makes it a meme game.
>>
It produces a large amount of memes
>>
>>331141262
I'll give you that
>>
>>331141081
>everyone who like what I don't has shit taste
Narcissism, everyone
>>
>>331139849
I usually call a game a "meme game" when it meets certain criteria:
-Based almost entirely around a single gimmick that isn't common in video games or
-Glitches often/is complete shit "for the lulz"

-Is usually played by Let's Players on Youtube
-Made by an indie studio
-Oftentimes a "simulator"
- Is extremely popular when it first comes out, but the lack of content or genuinely good game play makes them dropped and forgotten about in a few months
That is what I consider a "meme game"

Examples: Goat simulator, Yandere simulator, Besige, who's your daddy, octodad, shower with your dad simulator, lethal league
>>
>>331141262
But whether or not they're done well is entirely subjective. In the end it's all opinions, which makes the definition fall back to "game I don't like".
>>
It's a game that's only popular because of some memetic propagation. Like Slender or Five Nights at Freddie's and shit like that. If it's only popular because some jerk-off YouTubers played it, it's a meme game.

Also used to refer to games that have lots of shitty memes.

This one right here.
Sorry to undermine your defense.
>>
>>331139849
all games I dont like are meme games, but I don't dislike all meme games
>>
Mr. Taylor, Mr. soos will see you now.
>>
>>331139849
That's exactly what it means. Took you faggots long enough to figure it out. I've been saying for a least a year that "meme" = "anything I don't like".
>>
>>331141553
Even if it's subjective, you can still be objectively wrong about something.
>>
>>331142261
You can't be "objectively wrong" in the way /v/ uses the concept.
"Earth is flat" or "Everyone is a product of my mind" are objectively wrong, "[game] was good/bad" can't.

Meme Game
(may-may gay-may)
n

A game which meats some or all of the following conditions

1. A game with post 2003 internet humor shoved into it

2. A game who's popularity spreads memetically and quickly, often by word of mouth or nontraditional advertising and becomes wildly popular beyond reasonable expectation

3. A game which memes are made about, or that is embraced by those who are the type to make and find memes funny, which more often than not will lead to the former coming true

For other uses see the Meme prefix, some notable examples include; meme food, bacon; meme music, linkin park; meme clothing, fedoras; meme politicians, Donald trump, Bernard Sanders;meme magic, the bains plane crash.
>>
>>331142123
wut
>>
>>331139849
That's all it means.
>>
>>331139849
game people on the internet say they like even though they have never played it

for example, street fighter III

It was a commercial failure, people prefered King of Fighters 98 or Marvels vs Capcom, it killed Street Fighter for a decade, and a lot of pepole here on /v/ say they love it.
>>
>>331141081

And I just realized I haven't thought about Undertale in about a month, after being unable to escape it in the final quarter of 2015.

Talk about a fad game.
>>
>>331139849
Depends on which platform it is released on and which platforms you happen to support
>>
>>331140502
I'm so tired of hearing about reddit on this site.
