WoW is actively losing a noticeable amount of players over time. Pretty much everyone that was going to play it already has, so numbers are dropping. That's the definition of dying.

Also hearthstone does not NEED to ban broken cards because it's digital and can just edit them, but they rarely ever do that to non-basic cards because then they have to give everyone more dust

not really. if you play standard then you can only use cards from the 4 most recent sets, so your decks routinely become obsolete and need to be updated with new cards, which means spending 80 dollars on lands and 100 dollars on specific rare cards every year or so if you want to remain competitive. kind of a giant racket.
