Fun game, not a great game, too much RNG and too much focus on Deviant Sharts, with the actual cast being too small compared to the likes of Raging Blast 2 and Tenkaichi 3. Why do they keep going backwards in character lists? Either way, it's a good game for $40 or less, I bought it towards launch and had my fun, it felt worth the $60 but now that I look back at it I disagree with the grindfest.

Depends on what you want. Generally get Ki and Health so you can actually do shit without getting knocked out immediately.

To be fair the whole point of this game was it was about your character, it was marketed that way too. If you bought it not giving a shit about your own character then it was you're to blame for setting yourself up for disappointment.
