The storm ruler is a really neat inclusion to the fight.
If you like cheesing bosses, that's your problem, pretty much all bosses in DeS and DaS could be cheesed in some way.
I still think it's 10/10 for it's atmosphere and design. Also in terms of variation. DeS had a great variation of bosses actually. Everything in From games now are just either big humanoids or 4 legged things.

DS2 had those cool bugs in the black gulch and I liked those dudes who carried the barrels in the DLC, even though they aren't monsters. Demon of Song was pretty rad and Chariot was a really neat experience. Can't think of anything else spectacular at the top of my head.
