I didn't miss the mako from 1 you won't either. It was ok at first but got annoying fast. I'm not saying 1 was bad it was 100 times better then 3, but I just enjoyed 2 a lot more. Although the hacking mini game in 2 got old fast since almost every door and chest was locked.

Yea Bioware could not do TPS gameplay properly, and EA helped only make it slightly better than serviceable. For me mostly because of that Vanguard charge attack.

Worth no real affect in the stories outcome, no plot twists or betrayal by your team members the character building is forgetful and not needed when you get to pick an ending.
1 had better storytelling and world building, but the combat was just plain clunky.
2 improved combat, but writing quality suffered somewhat.
3 had the best combat, but had an absolutely terrible story surrounding it. Multiplayer was fun as hell though.
1 > 2 > 3 desu.
I don't know what class you people played but I only played infiltrator and I thought the first game had better gameplay than the second. I didn't like the thermal clips, I didn't like how they changed the skills and I preferred the Mako to the stupid probes.I can't really talk about the third game, I lost interest and stopped playing when I met Ashley

The character building is what I liked about ME1. We had no idea ash would turn tranny or that the devs hated tali's face. It was just the build up to a possibly much greater story is what I liked about ME1.
Ya looking back the choices you made had no impact and yada yada but the idea of what could have been is what makes 1 story wise the greatest story wise.

the problem with the mass effect series is instead of improving aspects of the game they removed them entirely and replaced them with something else. planet exploration could have been fun, if they just stopped making the planets so jagged and barren. the combat was good, it only suffered from a clunky cover system and pistols being OP. the sidequests had great stories to them, they were just too same-y in terms of the environment.
I'm having a blast playing this one, halfway through and just crashed Relay Alpha.
Is ME3 as good gameplay-wise? I know the story is nowhere as good already but it's got to have better gunplay.
