What is your opinion on the game? Is it worth buying it?
I actually like it, but the level based system makes it incredibly unfair for new players in a server. I spent a few days in a regular pvp server leveling and managed to tame a parasaur, and after forever built a wooden house to keep both me and it safe in. I had a few times when people tried raiding me, but I was able to fight them off or ignore them, because they didn't have metal tools, so they couldn't break into my house. Then, even though I built fairly away from others some high level people came and started breaking down my door with metal tools. At my level the best weapon I could build was a bow and arrow. I went out to defend myself, but after one shot they hit me with tranq arrows, then put me in a cage and destroyed my house and killed my dinosaur even though I had literally nothing worth stealing.
Now I play on a private server with friends so I can actually enjoy the game

It's good to play if you have friends to play with, but even if not, you can still do singleplayer just fine.
It's pretty cool to play, honestly. I would say it's better than Minecraft by miles, other than the lack of ability to shape the landscape itself.
The public servers are a mess, though, don't bother with them. Private servers are your best bet.
I like it, but have no friends to play with, so I don't play it anymore. Public servers stress me out, and I don't like having to restart whenever some autists want to ruin what i've worked for; especially since it takes fucking hours to do anything.

That's why public servers are shit. At least with private, you get moderation going, and the stats are adjustable so it's not intolerable to a point where you have to wait 6 fucking hours just to take a level 4 bronto.

I'm doing solo right now, but I still find it pretty enjoyable, especially with adjusted stats.

I know what you mean, taming speeds are fucking awful in public. Even leveling is getting annoying in my private server on xbone. It's up as high as I can get it to go, 6 times xp, and it's taking forever to hit 80 so I can make a saddle for my quetzal, 85 until I can make one for my giga

I just got fed up with the slow as fuck progress, so I amped up taming and XP speeds on my server like crazy. I still need to adjust tranq stats so that it's actually feasible to catch a Quetz without another person involved, but I'm finding it easier to not deal with the torturous public server speeds.
I'm also thinking of trying to get a few mods on my server. Haven't experimented with it too much, though. Also don't know what sorts of maps would be best to try out.

It's a little time consuming, but you can actually get a Quetz solo. You just need to tame a scorpion and an eagle. Get the scorpions melee damage boosted, then fly it with the eagle and have it set to aggressive. It will sting the quetz's neck everytime you line him up. Eventually the quetz will go down passed out. Took me around 20-30 minutes

The scorpion needs to be sideways in your grip. There's plenty of videos showing it. The main hard thing is keeping him safe and knocked out once he goes down. You can't control where he goes down. When I downed mine a T rex tried eating it, but ran off after I started attacking him. You'll need a shit ton of tranqs to keep it out
