I bought Stardew Valley last Friday night and played it pretty much non-stop until the morning. I bought it for 15 bucks and got my fair share of enjoyment out of it but I 100% sure I'll never pick it up again.

Now I am wondering... Was it worth the price? How much should 1hr of videogaming cost? Is 1hr of AAA title > 1hr Indie title.

I snatched Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm for 5$ and have by now 1062hrs playes means one hour of excellent fun would be 0.0047$. Can anyone beat that?

> inb4 retards think that 4000hrs in a shitty f2p moba is a good thing

General rule of thumb for me is that $/hr ratio should be at MINIMUM 1:1. Which means if you bought a $5 game and didn't put 5hr into it, it truly was a waste of money.

Any game to pass the 10:1 ratio of $:hr is probably a good game, and 100:1 an excellent game (in regards to money per hour)

If you manage to get a 1000:1 ratio then you are a king of bargain gaming, or you have sold your soul.
>>
I go by $1 / 1 hr ever since the PS1 days when games were $40 and 40 hours is about how long you could expect an RPG to last. I pretty much only played RPGs during that gen because they offered the best value.
>>
>>330812462

I could play 2000 hours of Adventure Capitalist or Cookie Clicker, it's still not worth a single dime
>>
>>330812462
my general rule of thumb is amount of hours worked (i.e enough to afford the vidya) vs amount of hours i get out of it. as long as i break even it's worth it.

I think that is a fair assignment for a multiplayer game, an AAA title which is 'cinematic' having a 2:1 ratio is perfectly fine for me, say God of War for example.

I think you're going in the wrong direction. $1000 per hour is a bad investment.
>>
>playing the games you buy

Fuck off, poorfags.
>>
Either 1:1 dollar to hour, or 10:1 if you think of about what movies cost (more like 15 now but still).

Depends on the type of game and what it gives me. For instance, Zoe2 and MGR were both like 6 hours long, but they offered wonderful experiences that I remember to this day. MGR was just full of excitement like goddamn, and the final ZOE2 fight was amazing at least for the time (well, the whole build up to it etc included).

Agreed. I hope the realisation of the amount of time they've wasted hits them like a brick wall.

Not a poorfag but I've become more careful when it comes to 'recommendations'. A lot of hard earned money went into the bottomless pit calles Steam
>>
dollar/hour ratio is shitty, it should be dollar/quality"unit". obviously when reviewing games you have to talk about the total amount of game time, but if you already own the game and are looking at it from how much time you get out of it and not how much "fun", you are stupid.
>>
>>330815219
How do you measure fun units though?
>>
>>330815406
it's personal to you, how much fun are you having with a game?
>>
>>330815673
usually not much

amount of adrenaline/dopamine/serotonin released

heh

I mean, taken to it's logical extreme, you might as well bang your head against a wall since it's free and you can do it until you die. Best "bang" for your buck :^)

number of erections per play session

I thought you had to pay a sub to play WoW

I've spent around $1800 on WoW and gotten roughly 6500 hours out of it which works out to around $0.25 per hour or a 1:4 dollar/hour ratio.
It probably wasn't worth it.

That would be Dota or LoL.

> non stop playing, nice and easy distraction from sad life
> little to no thinking just grind down your occasional patterns, no change of anything or development cause it's just too hard - stuck in mediocrity
> no communication with other except for flame and complaining - giving orders and leading would be too exhausting

There's a reason Mobas are NEETs digest

Don't lower your standards just because they've lowered theirs, 'Cinematic' games are lazy excuses for lacking gameplay.

Every game is 1:1
>>
>>330812462

How far did you get? The game didn't slow down for me until winter and by then I was 30 hours in. Well worth it for me

Summer, year 2. Guess I could have spend another day or two but it's getting too dull now and work calls.
