So I'm coming to "/v/ - Tech Support" to ask a quick question about PCSX2.
Whatever games I play, I keep getting these weird garbage effects that seem like they radiate from the characters.
It happens in multiple games, though with exceptions, but enough that it gets annoying.
Has anyone else experienced this, and managed to fix it?
Here's another example for my own bump and with retard-proof red circle in case people couldn't tell what the problem was.

Those guys are of no help.
Here's a nice example of a game running the exact same settings but with no such garbage, leading me to thing it's only for a certain few games, but these certain games keep popping up.
Tried software rendering?

I have. And it looks a lot better, though not garbage-free there either.
I have already semi-concluded that it's the upscaling (who knows maybe decade-old PS2 games just weren't meant to be rendered in 4k?) that's the likely culprit.
That being said it kinda' rubs me wrong that it only happens in a few games.
Not to mention that software mode is not as pretty as hw mode with upscaling!
PCSX2 is shit. That's all you need to know about.

It's not all bad. Most games look just fine, but this one problem seems to be the reoccurring. That being said I've been comparing PCSX2 to Dolphin a lot lately, and thus have noticed that PCSX2 is much better at utilizing your CPU than Dolphin, but Dolphin is much more accurate in the way it renders your image. Even upscaled!
I played through The Third Age on Dolphin recently at 4k without a single visual hitch, but it couldn't maintain the FPS quite as well as PSCX2 can.

The Wii and Gamecube is way faster than the PS2.

I have the opposite, Dolphin seems to run way better than PCX2 for me.
Have you tried logging off and checking your email again?

Nah, I've tested a few other titles in comparison between NGC and PS2 and found that PCSX2 tends to do better on performance than Dolphin.
That being said, Dolphin looks a lot better.
However, it can really go both ways. Here's an example of a PCSX2 rendering nice, garbage-free accurate graphics but tanking on the FPS.

In my experience, Dolphin manages to keep "playable" better than PCSX2 but PCSX2 seems more adept at a 60-or-fucking-nothing approach. If that makes any sense?
When Dolphin chugs, it chugs a few frames, but frequently. When PCSX2 chugs, it chugs hard, but it doesn't happen too often.
It might just be my setup or test-conditions though.

It does better performance since it requires less power than a GC/Wii title.

Direct requirements like that have very little to do with the actual speeds, and more to do with how the emulators work. A much better looking game can run a lot worse than a poorer looking one solely because of the emulator it's ran on.

Yes, and both Dolphin and PCSX2 are shit. Come on.
Works fine for me ;)

The one game I have not been able to get working on PCSX2 is Okage: Shadow King, which is unfortunate because it's one of my favorite RPG's ever made.
google "pcsx2 ghost effect"
thank me later
