How do I get back into Splatoon? Do splatfests still exist?

Snowmen vs sand castles. Pick your side and go paint.
Play with friends, that's the only way I can see myself going back to it. I only have one other person that I could play the game with but neither of us are gung ho about starting it up.
I think this weekend's splatfest was pokemon red and pokemon blue, I don't know if it was only japan but yes they still exist.

Playing against or with japs is a nightmare
My 4 year old daughter plays this and ranks around the middle of any given game. She'll drop the controller midmatch just to run over and tell me what's going on.
Multiplayer is a total crapshoot.

I don't know why but everything about splatoon's world and game suddenly became a huge turn off to me. Maybe it's because me and ex used to play together, I don't know. But everything about the game is so unappealing now.

Literally the same exact shit happens to me. Not even losing would make me quit immediately, but trying to get back into it every time, only to have your match shunted by shitty netcode, that's what really discourages me.

I keep wanting to come back and them I remember the torture of playing with and against Japs. My main issue was that Japs are broekn into two groups: Tryhard autists with savescum equipment and oblivious retards who don't understand how to work and objective or play as a team. It's a crying shame the Japanese have less experience with shooters, but it's also simply true that they play them less and have less general skill in the genre.

That's an educational kids show. A Splatoon animated series would be a bit more crude. Honestly I can see it landing on Nickelodeon with the whole messy paint theme that the network once had.
