It doesn't cheat in the HD addition, and it's even harder than it used to be.

The original AI, definitely. It was shit.
On the 'HD' re-release, the default AI doesn't cheat in resources at all and overall plays better, especially on water maps. It actually lures boar to their TC, too.
That said, it's not that great either, especially compared to fanmade AI scripts.

I can't remember how it was in Dark Crusade but in Soulstorm AI was honestly quite stupid and predictable. The only challenge was Insane AI because it cheated blatantly and you basically had to rush it ASAP, and sometimes Orks on Very Hard because there's always a lot of them.
