Versus XIII tried that, but then XV happened and there's not even a speck of blood no more, because those soldiers you're going to fight are replaced with cyborgs now. Sucks, but at least there's some hint that the plot will have some political aspects to it. I doubt it'll be as good as Tactics, though. Not that Tactics's plot really that good 11/10, but at least there's a nice attempt to balance fantasy with politics.

I agree, but I'm going to be a devil's advocate here, because as anime-ish as "angsty teenagers in a military" theme and whatever common tropes that follows, Type 0 actually managed to be a bit mature than usual. It gives me hope as to XV's plot not to be as bad as I think it will be.

And tbqh, my complaints about XV boil down to 'It's not what Versus XIII promised me'.
