Played a lot of emulated games when I was young and didn't realise a lot of them were bootlegs. This was one of the better ones.

I don't remember a lot about this game. What I do remember is that I bought a shit ton of boosting items for my main guy and he became so powerful that he was basically unstoppable. Is it worth playing again, or is it as broken as I remember? Also, is the fan translation 100% working or still buggy?

This was a Shin-Chan game originally, IIRC.
There were also 2 others like it on GBA, although you'd switch powers at will, like Magical Quest.

Yes it is, and the translation is so bad it's good. It's a pretty obvious Pokemon wannabe, but it does a fair amount to differentiate itself from Pokemon.
I didn't enjoy it, but there's practically no Mega Man Battle Network Clones. I thought it was worth a toss.

Beyond the wonky attack input thing, Angelic Layer doesn't look too shabby. Though ti doesn't seem like there's a lot of reason to NOT get in someone's face and then attack like mad, and then just time the guard actions.
