The difference is that those games didn't have characters who were designed SPECIFICALLY FOR that type of play, including having a move that guarantees a free punish or stock if landed by the ledge, and often leads to a zero to death from the floor of the stage. Bro, one single low damage projectile was enough to end MVD's stock. Reading is one thing, but when something that small guarantees you a set up into a zero to death, the character is broken. No doubt about it. And don't try to tell me that combo took skill to execute. Bayonetta is DESIGNED to be able to do that. That combo was programmed to be easy to pull off. If Pink Fresh had strung together some sort of creative combo that finished off MVD then the story would be completely different. But he didn't. He Witch Time'd a projectile that would have done about 2% damage, and won the game because of it. That's fucking horseshit, and you know it.

He fired the projectile right in his face. Witch Time doesn't proc if you do it on a projectile from a distance. Bayonetta still dodges it, but it doesn't slow down the opponent.

Bayonetta main here:
That combo is hard to pull off on someone who doesn't just bend over and let you stick your penis into their rectum. Literally just hold the joystick down and away from Bayonetta and ruin all her BnBs force her to use creativity to string together custom non-true combos. Even brain-deads in For Glory know how to escape that combo.

That Diddy was too busy using his other hand to lube his anus to just hold the direction away from Bayo so it was like killing a level 1 CPU as soon as Witch Time hit.

If he DI'd away from her she couldn't have ended his stock. She already used both of her afterburner kicks so wouldn't be able to end the combo with anything other than a fastfall uAir if she was lucky (and even then that most likely wouldn't connect considering Diddy was JUST at the border of her fAir range at the end). Even if he predicted the DI, he exhausted the moves required to react to it.

And yes, you can adjust to DI to continue the combo, but you won't be able to 0 to death someone if they don't let you carry them to the top. Diddy would have eaten the combo damage with a different finisher most likely, but not wouldn't have ended the game.

But honestly, at that point Diddy would have most likely escaped without a combo finisher making contact.
