Not even the best Metroid. Controls are too floaty, and the gameplay isn't tight, precision-based like the original Metroid. You walk into a room, the door locks behind you, and a bunch of big grasshoppers dive all over you. Too bulky and slow to dodge them, so you blast them with missiles and collect the health they drop.
Metroid 1 was designed to force players to dodge, out-move, and out-wit the enemies on screen. Super Metroid was designed for casuals.
Metroid Fusion is more of a balanced and complete package. Regardless if others liked the game progression design.
