Did Modern Warfare change gaming for the better?
You already know the answer to this question.
It was something different for the time. My favorite COD.

Remember how much hype Halo 3 got? The COD:MW came out 2 months later and Halo never really recovered.
>>330718435
People always say it was cod4 that changed shit but I think it was Battlefield 2 that started all these trends. BF2 had unlock system with a different weapon for each class. It had the DLC additions though they werent called DLC. And they did the modern war setting.
Daily reminder that MW2 is where Call of Duty went wrong
>weed callsigns
>flashy popups for everything
>began the trend of close quarters hallway maps
>entire weapon pool was ports from cod4 or tacticool variant garbage
>first started pushing the excessive mobility and action movie shit too far
>>330720264
>DUDE
>>330718435
Fuck no, it's what killed gaming.
Yes and no.
CoD4 was definitely the best cod online.
MW2 however was worse yet it was more popular and ruined fps for years to come.
>>330720264
>WEED
>>330720149
I always remembered Halo 3 being more popular than Cod4, am I wrong?
>>330718435
Doritos & Mountain Dew sure think it does.
>>330720264
The weed emblems and shit were definitely harbingers of the end of CoD. That was straight pandering to idiot stoners and dudebros. Once the target audience becomes lowest-common-denominator it's over
>>330720609
Yes
>>330720264
MW2 was fun as hell though nigga
>Duel 1887's pre-patch
>Javelin exploit
>Tactical knife only class
>>330718435
It was good. But following good either leads to better or worse. It led to worse, obviously
In the last 10 years
>CoD4 changed FPS
>League popularised MOBA
>Portal created "gaming culture"
>Braid popularised artsy hipster indie games
>Minecraft popularised autism craft simulator
>Mighty No 9 started the Kikestarter trend
What would be the next game that change gaming.
>>330721789
BLOPs 1 is pretty good, I enjoyed the conspiracy theory angle and multi was better than MW.
>>330721914
Was it Uncharted or Gears of War that started the cover shooter trend?
>>330722213
Yes, that was Gears.
>>330722213
Gears for slow, regen health cover shooters in general and their respective shoehorned multiplayers. Uncharted for le epic setpiece campaigns.
>>330718435
anyone who liked this game is to blame for the state of fps. I preferred pic related and didn't buy into this shit
I thought it was retarded how you could die in one shot
>>330721914
What a time to be aliiiiveeeeeeeee
>>330721914
Mighty no 9 didn't started it. Tim Schafers shitty Broken Age game.
>>330722539
>didn't play Team Tactical
gitgud.
Shitpost aside, I enjoyed Halo 3 more as well. The Forge mode added a lot of replayability and fun game modes, not to mention being able to include friends in online play.
>>330722467
Both CoD 4 and Uncharted had ebin scripted setpiece campaigns and came out in Nov 2007
>>330723135
tacticool garb is what literally ruined fps ....sure they were fun but they just get boring fast imo. now arena is dead
>sit in the building on this map with a sniper rifle, racking up kills
>nerve wracking moment when people are in the building and you are trying to catch them with a pistol
>then MW2 comes out and if you don't run into people point blank you are using a sniper wrong
>>330723396
Nailed it
>>330722084
Agreed
Played through the campaign a few days ago and it was pretty cool
WAW had a great campaign too
No, it merely spawned the late '00s, early '10s version of what every flavor of the generation does.
You can't blame a good game for turning publishers into retards.
