So in all honesty, what the hell happened?
I like to make believe that they ragequit from making video games because everybody hated the Castlevania reboots they did, and Kojimbo was a diva princess.
In reality, I think the CEO is just some Yakuza boss's son, and they decided that video games have a MUCH smaller profit margin than the casino shit that those gangsters really love. So they're going to do nothing but build Pachinko machines now.

Casual Japs stopped buying console games and switched over to mobile f2p shit, and Konami proceeded to make bank from that market. Then Konami dropped most of their less-profitable console game IPs so they could divert more resources to Kojima's vanity projects. Eventually Kojima became more trouble than he was worth so they dropped him too. That's why have nothing left to offer the console/PC crowd but Metal Gear and PES.
