RetroArch and it's cores are free. It all depends on what systems you wanna run. There's multiple cores for some systems with one usually being better then the others.

If you're gonna go that route, you might as well just get an Xbone controller for PC and just emulate from there. Who is gonna carry around a fucking controller for their phone everywhere they go?
outside of turn based rpgs and shit like ace attorney emulating on a phone is just awful, using the screen for controlling is just terrible

i already have an xbox wireless controller, but carrying around the dongle and controller is pretty autistic.
this one has decent thumbstick, and you get used to the smaller buttons on the right side and a little awkward dpad position.

They deserve all the bad reviews, Retroarch on android has one of the most atrocious and unintuitive ui i've ever seen. Just get any standalone emulator and it's gonna be 100 times better and easiet.

it's only 1 little wire, and you can use ps3/ps4 wirelessly but i'm not sure about xbox. I already had a spare ps3 controller so that's what I use. I ended up setting up some pc streaming shit to my phone too so i can lay on in my bed under a blanket and play dork souls.

As soon as I finish taking this shit, I will go get a Bluetooth controller for my nexus 6. Touch screen does not go good with games that require pressing more than 2 buttons at the same time (example : directional arrow + run button and jump, for example Super Mario World in the snes).
If you guys tell me I can get to work one of those without rooting, for PSP, PSONE, SNES, GBA, and else, that's it.
I'll grab a bunch of money and go get one.

I have a ps3 one, but as you said it requires rooting. I remember I used to link my wii mote back then, and play some snes games. Ps3 y probably the best and most comfy controller for this, but also it does not have a support to turn your phone in a handheld console. And I dot like that.

Welcome to 3rd world. Ps3 and 4 are around 80 to 130 Obamas, and I saw a few Bluetooth controllers a few days ago between 40 to 80 Obamas.
