Go read some books and realize that the average person was always borderline retarded. The only difference these days is that we force these people through public school, even though many still never learn to read, write, or do math past basic algebra.
I'm a TA at a university and I'm astounded at how most students managed to get accepted. They write like children and are completely unable to follow most instructions at their age. I guess these are the people going for public relations or human services degrees.
