I never really go t Paper Mario. Because I was coming off of Super Mario RPG. And I was expecting the battles to be expanded upon. But when the game starts, the battle system is almost insultingly simplistic. I was turned off of the game, because of how simple it was.

I'd rate most things over SMRPG. It's a decent game but everything after it outclasses it in personality and mechanics. Only things SMRPG really has in its favor are more traditional RPG elements like an actual party, but I always liked Mario RPGs because of how much they were unlike traditional RPGs.
