Is there any reason to still play SF2 when Third Strike, USF4, and SFV exist?
There's still a scene for it, and it teaches you good fundamentals for footsies and spacing.
Hell, Snake Eyez won his first major on Super Turbo in 2010, then 5 years later made Top 8 at Capcup in USFIV, being the only American to reach that level.

sf2 is only for nostalgia
sf3 is for tricking yourself into thinking you have skill
alpha is for learning how truly unfair life can be, its basically just 100% cheese but the cheese actually takes skill to perform, so it's hard for scrubs no matter what
sf4 is just stale, since it added nothing impressive, and most players couldn't even do FADCs anyway
sf5 is just sf2 with some marvel bullshit added
