Depends on the game

Any game that requires grinding for content that offers even the smallest advantage, and enable you to purchase that and cut out the grind.

Pay to grind isn't pay to win

Pay to win= stat advantages and equipment often unobtainable in game
Pay to grind= have to grind for hours instead of days, but a max level dude is the same as pay to grind man in the end

right but there's a significant amount of time where a player who paid has an advantage over someone who has not paid, making it p2win
>>
>>330490693

Thing is skill still takes into account with pay to grind as the more determined person would get to know more game mechanics and other shit before pay to grind man.

Pay to grind is pretty much for those maxed out people who don't want to spend 30 hours maxing another dude.

Or the pay to skip grinding guy gets to the endgame gameplay sooner, getting a massive advantage in experience in the way things actually are, as opposed to the guy grinding his way through the shit before that.
>>
>>330491390

This is pretty rare I would think though. As you don't get to know your class and don't know shit about passives and your abilities.

You if you know absolute shit and pay to grind you will get assraped in most of the hard content while the guy taking his time probably would fare better knowing basic combat mechanics.

Of course, pay to grind man could go on youtube or some shit and look up "MLG meta builds easy guide" but chances are they would still be shit at the game.

Pay to grind has its own set of downsides, that is why it is primarily there for guys that already know what they are doing.

There is literally nothing wrong with pay to grind if you already maxed a character, in fact games should allow you to just create characters that are based on your already existing characters to begin with.

The overwhelming majority of players, like 99.9%, are all complete shit no matter what, so why should I care if they get to skip learning stages? They don't learn anything anyway, they'll still be shit at max level or whatever, I'll still body them. Unless they get an ACTUAL advantage, I don't give a shit.

I mean, you can look at 2 of the top games on twitch right now, LoL and Hearthstone.

In LoL someone who pays to skip the grind is going to find the champions they like sooner because they'll have a wider breath of champions to pick from. They'll also learn more, seeing as the best way to learn what a champion does is not only to play against them, but to play as them. Then there's the whole picking and counterpicking scenario, which is obviously in the paying players favor. I won't even speak to the skills the grinder would have when he's eventually caught up, because that's basically impossible in LoL in 2016.

In Hearthstone there's no question. Someone paying to skip the grind is getting to play meta decks against other meta decks, learning the ins and outs of each matchup. The other guy is going to be playing janky shit for ages, only truly learning why his cards are shit, not how to play actual decks or matchups.

>I'm just THAT GOOD that they can have a headstart, I'll still win!

Congrats, I guess. No idea why you'd condone such shit game design just to make your epeen seem bigger.
>>
>>330492827
>shit game design
It's really clever design if executed properly. BLR did a fantastic job with it.
>>
>>330492827
Because it's not shit game design to me, it has no negative impact on my experience. Just because you need to grasp at straws as to why some nooblord wrecked you doesn't mean I am as pathetic.
>>
>>330493570

Be careful with that epeen senpai, it's so big you might knock someone out with it.

According to Totalbiscuit, "pay2win" is not a valid criticism.

Hes says more than that and you know - in fact I go further on to explain himself in the video. I know he hurts your fee-fees by telling hard truths but theres no need to get upset and take something out of context.

it's not "pay to graduate" it's just pay to not study!
>>
>>330486340

It's only pay2win if you're gaining items with stat boosts that you wouldn't be able to otherwise acquire.

Also if the best gear can be bought with real life money then it's pay 2 win.

OR a game that has a cash shop that let's you buy items with real money to sell for ingame currency. Example: premium time on TERA. (not sure if they do this still since the game is f2p now)
