This. I never finished Lost Odyssey, but I still own the discs. I'm going to buy a 360 when it because dirt cheap in the next two or three years.
>>
>>330433351
I know, would be great to see it ported to PC or if a Sequel is a possibility then Multiplat
>>
>>330433443
Same situation. Haven't owned a 360 since 2011. I got really deep into it twice, but never finished it. Think I reached the start of the final disc once and then got lost in a cave and never got back to it.

Short stories. Besides that it's a completely average game.

I bought an Xbox 360 for this game alone and it was a worthy investment.

The Final Fantasy we were all hoping for came out under a different name.

I would buy 10 copies if it got ported to PC.

Thousand years of memories, or whatever those short stories about Caim's past were, and the airship reveal being one of the best airship reveals ever.
>>
>>330433246
Easily the best RPG for 7th gen consoles.
Felt exactly like a Final Fantasy game when they were at their peak, even down to the final boss theme.

Good Music
Written by an actual professional writer and not a video game writer.
Felt like a version of the peak Final Fantasy games.
Protaganist wasn't a absolute pansy.

The Battle Theme was really awesome

The short stories were written by an actual writer, the game itself was still done by vidya writers which is why it was absolute garbage storywise.
>>
The only JRPG I've ever played, and I fucking loved every minute of it. One of the very few games I've 100%'d.

Writing aside from short stories was boring as shit.

Also, "professional" writer means jack shit. Take a look at Rhianna Pratchett (""""""professional"""""" writer). Then take a look at Amy Hennig (videogame writer).
>>
>>330433246
The main character was intolerably boring and edgey and that really put me off, especially when the rest of the party members were alright.

At least until Cooke and Mack came along. I stop playing this game both times I've tried to completed it not long after they join the party. I've never seen more obnoxious characters.
>>
Jansen.
Probably one of the best voiced characters in video games, it's a shame the guy hasn't gotten a single gig since then. Absolutely unique

The English version in general was extremely well done though, most likely because the facial animation was so fucking good and was animated based off of the English version. Why the fuck does a game that came out in 2007-08 have better animations than RPG's now (looking at you, Tales)?
>>
>>330435416
When will you guys stop with the Amy Hennig meme? She's completely incompetent and only pulled out for the SEE WE SUPPORT WOMEN IN VIDEO GAMES argument. Continuously used as an example without explaining why.
>>
>>330433246

>>330433246
I really did not enjoy the story. Everything was very slow paced too, even for an RPG.
>>
>>330434849
>>330435213
Nobuo Uematsu did the soundtrack, which is why it's so fucking good. It's sad that he does so little these days.
>>
>>330435536
> Continuously used as an example without explaining why.
Yet you just called her incompetent without explaining why.

I'd point at Legacy of Kain series for good writing, 3 of which had Hennig writing for them.

And it doesn't have anything to do with that shit. There are plenty of shitty "professional" (because for whatever reason videogame writers aren't pros) writers out there just like there are good ones.

Made it until after Kaims Waifu joins, then my enjoyment just petered out. I think I'll pick it back up again at some point in the future, beyond the whole "outliving your family" aspect, nothing really grabbed me.

I'm surprised he's still in business at all considered how many soundtracks he's composed. Where does he find the inspiration?

So, it's a matter of Microsoft exclusivity or Mistwalker just doing fuck all?

>game gets announced for PC
>it's a Windows 10 exclusive
>>
>>330435920
When you're that talented, I guess it just comes naturally.

Motoi Sakuraba has been in the industry just as long and is still going like a fucking machine, working on Dark Souls, the Tales games, Star Ocean, Bravely Default and a bunch of Nintendo stuff. I wish Uematsu still had that kind of drive, but I guess he's happy semi-retired.

Phils been cockteasing it for ages. About the only thing I would buy an Xbone for.
>>
>>330436012
Microsoft owns the IP. The game didn't even sell a million copies though and had a large budget. I doubt they're too keen to bring it back in any way, beyond making it backwards compatible on the Xbone maybe.

Nobody will give Mistwalker money any more, so they're relegated to making mobile games. It's sad. The Last Story was fucking great too.
>>
>>330436458
Given that Blue Dragon didn't sell great either, and they gave them ANOTHER chance with Lost Odyssey, not to mention Phil Spencer (according to him at least) is a big fan of both games I'd say something is likely to happen soon in regards to it.
>>
>>330436593
considering how xbone is doing right now I highly doubt anything is going to happen. also, I assume mistwalker wouldn't be porting it to PC themselves because japanese developer and all.
>>
I got this and Halo 3 when I bought my 360.

I already loved Halo 3 after playing it at a friends house but Lost Oddysey was fun too. I only completed the first disc and some of the second, though. #Regrets

>>330436593
Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey were released exactly one year apart in Japan. Blue Dragon only came out in the West four months before Lost Odyssey launched, so it was likely just about finished at that point.

It wasn't a case of Microsoft giving them another chance. They funded both games and they both flopped, relatively speaking. That was the end of them working with Mistwalker and pretty much the end of them funding anything risky ever again.

Letters from a Weakling story really destroyed me back then
We need more good writers in the video games

My god that thing was glorious

>That character with a rifle
>He can hit with 100% damage even being in the back row
>He can hit with 100% damage to enemies in the back row
>Equip him with a rune that says "Stone effect on crits"
>Destroy the whole back row every encounter thanks to him

Best Final Fantasy since IX
