Not really, 3 and 4 were pretty great. Not sure if Underground 1 and 2 were released on Gamecube, but they were pretty good as well. If you have a console that plays Xbox 1 games, I'd play 2X if you get a chance.

Up there with Golden Eye, Battle Tanks, and Dynasty Warriors.

Tony Hawk 1 was great, but looking back it's a bit rough and dated
Tony Hawk 2 polished it a bit and added some mechanics
THPS 3 added even more polish can't think of what was added
THPS 4 changed the single player experience which kept the formula from getting stale, while adding reverts which linked vert and street moves. The best Tony Hawk in my opinion.
Underground added an amazing story and added the ability to get off your board.
Underground 2 was just Jackass/Viva la Bam with skateboards and added too much silly gimmick shit.

Downhill Jam was at least partially enjoyable once you envisioned it as an SSX game with a Tony Hawk skin. Project 8 was just proof that the series wasn't meant for HD visuals and advanced physics systems.
