I think it would be neat if somebody actually started watching Pokemon again from the very beginning and tallied every single day that passed in the show.
You can't just automatically assume that "one episode is equal to one day" because there are some episodes that are direct "same day" continuations of the previous episode and then there are single episodes that include multiple days. Like the first two episodes are one day because Ash takes Pikachu to the Pokemon Center the night of the same day he received Pikachu. Then there are episodes like when Ash battled LT.Surge and had to come back the day after to rematch all in the span of a single episode. Then, if I remember correctly, they say at the beginning of the episode where they get to Celadon City that it took them two weeks to get there off-screen.
Factor all that shit in and you can really learn how old Ash is.

I read it and that watching every episode plan sounded like a lot of work. You can get a high ball and low ball estimate from the one day one episode number though. There aren't many episodes where more than a week passes between episodes coupled with two and three part episodes we can say like each episode may be around three days bringing the total up to six years. It would be strange if over six or under two years had passed.
