Why should I buy an early access game?
>>
>>330212824
because row after row of tiny robot arms completing intricate production chains gives you an erection
>>
>>330212824
if you can afford it and like it
>>
Factorio's pretty neat when you realise you don't really have to pack everything into a small space with the infinite map on.

I'm kinda guilty of abusing the fuck out of logistics drones though. Just have rows of assemblers with request and provider chests and leave it to the robots to supply and collect from them.
>>
>>330212824
You shouldn't unless you're already happy with the product you're buying and wouldn't care if the developer dropped it and never updated again. Factorio is good in the state it's in now and is worth the money. Obviously I hope the dev adds some more interesting late game stuff but that game is solid as it is now.

You should absolutely never buy an early access game based off developer promises. Most people here learned this lesson years ago with minecraft, before 'early access' was even a thing.

They recently updated, so Factorio isn't dead.

>>330212824
it's actually quite decent
>>
>>330215234
Wait, it's on steam now? wonder if I can unlock my copy on there.
>>
>>330215382
If you bought it on their website you can redeem a steam key. It's down the bottom of your account page I believe.
>>
Should I buy this, Stardew Valley or Starbound?
>>
>>330215506
I'd pick Factorio over Starbound but I don't know about Stardew Valley. From what I've seen it looks pretty good and varied, whilst Factorio can get repetitive pretty quickly.
>>
>>330215506
Having played all 3, Factorio>Stardew Valley>Starbound
Factorio and Stardew are both worth paying for.
Starbound is not. Avoid it like the plague.

>>330215857
Sounds fun. Who's hosting?
>>
>>330216015
can you?
>>
>>330216065
I hate messing with IP stuff and my connection a shit, so not really.
>>
>>330216065
>>330216108
No one ever hosts, haven't seen a /v/ server yet.
>>
>>330216498
because posting your non-dynamic IP on /v/ is asking to be fucked.
>>
>>330216498
>No dedicated server options
I wouldn't have minded hosting it if I wasn't required to play it as well.
>>
>>330215639
Stardew Valley is just Farmville with waifus
>>
>>330216498
If I)'m ever going to play this game in MP it's going to be with people that I know to spend 15h+ on the safe because otherwise what's the point

>hosting a game but not playing it

for all i care you can just make a stone wall fort around your ass and go afk, not like the game breaks with alt+tab.
>>
>>330216581
Hamachi is meant to make it safe, right? I still have that laying around.

>>
>>330217063
hamachi doesn't work with factorio at all though, it tries funneling your connection and end up lagging worse than jap internet
>>
>>330217073
Think I might have managed to get it to work.
Try and see if you can connect to 178.155.187.250:34197
>>
>>330213019
This
>>
>>330217956
Won't connect for me
>>
>>330218310
Just giving you the standard connection failure message?
>>
>>330218373
"couldn't establish communication with server"
>>
No.
>>
Is there a way to stop pipes connecting when you lay them together? I dread messing with oil because I have to work around that thing to stop things mixing together.
>>
if you strugle with hosting just fucking use hamachi
>>
>>330220867
I don't know, I just use underground pipes to work around it.
>>
>>330220867
Use as many underground pipes as possible
>>
>>330220964

hamachi?
>>
>>330221026

Google?
>>
>>330221026
A program that simulates a lan network which removes the need to forward ports and other shenanigans
Similar to Tunngle
>>
>>330221084
bing?
>>
>>330220964
According to >>330217124 it doesn't work with Factorio.
>>
>>330221179

but it does

i use it
>>
>>330221179
Hes full of shit though, it works no problems.
>>
>>330221179
I don't think there's a reason why it shouldn't work with anything that works over lan, the game doesn't know the difference
>>
>>330221178
Yahoo?
>>
Pirate it until the whole game is released.
>>
>>330221620
