But it seems this your first time experiencing a Sawano soundtrack. He usually does this kind of style and is usually doing the soundtracks on anime instead of games. He's worked on Kill la Kill and Gundam Unicorn.
Some of his tracks aren't very good (some of the vocal ones primarily) but his area themes are fantastic. Cauldros Night and Sylvalum Night are fantastic.I'm a sucker for vocal final boss themes.

The original Xenoblade can have a similar deconstruction in that it's all generic as fuck RPG music, but they all work really well in their settings and atmospheres in-game.

As soon as the game came out and I listened to them in-game, I started to love them better than vanilla Xenoblade
It's all about how well do they work in the game
