I generally prefer SMW but somehow I was a bit bored last time I played it. Maybe it's just because I've played it a million times and am getting tired, but I need to give 3 another playthrough.

Better progression, stages involved more complex challenges and getting to the flagpole involved more than just avoiding obstacles. I can appreciate what SMW did with the map and revisiting stages, but the Ghost Houses were just about the only interesting challenge the game provided.
