Gonna agree with OP. FF is a spinoff. CS is intended to be a full blown entry. Nobody's gotten their hands on FF to know the extent of the damage. CS is a follow up to what was already known to be a complete betrayal of the franchise so it can be pretty easily inferred. Guy behind FF already said he wants to keep making proper Metroid games past this and there's a separate team that could already be making another Metroid anyway. No word on the return of proper Paper Mario.

Color Splash doesn't have that benefit, and along with that I've literally never once heard a positive thing said about Sticker Star. Any potential fans they might have gotten are almost definitely lost due to A) not having the system for color splash or B) being turned off the series after playing sticker star, nevermind older fans of the series that were turned off from sticker star already.

Super was still a great game though, just with different gameplay and mechanics from the first games, but unlike Sticker Star, these mechanics actually fucking worked and were rewarding and it upped the ante on its writing (Francis' castle was fucking god-tier), villains, and level design (except caveman world which was kinda poor.)
