Are you patient enough to let a person who is new to gaming figure stuff out on their own, without you taking the controller or telling them what to do, while you're in the same room?

How about when you're watching livestreams?
i dont hang out with peopel who are new to gaming, let alone watch them play
>>329503051
So you've never let your parents, siblings or family members in general try?
>>329502861
I´m somewhat bad at this. Sometimes I play with my girlfriend and it just gets tedious to watch if she doesn´t progress for a while and I can´t help but give her some hints, but when I leave her alone for a few minutes while smoking she usually get´s it on her own
>>329502861
I've never had anybody play videogames with me in my life
>>329503389
>never take the controller away from someone even if they give it to you
>be as clear as possible with your directions and help
>give an overview of the the control scheme and game objectives as they start the level
>offer help as advice instead of commands
This has helped me stay patient with family and friends
I am. But they always ask me what to do and get angry when I refuse to tell them.
>>329502861
>Girlfriend prefers I outright tell her what to do instead of hints
If I leave her on her own, she usually gets it, but if she's lazy she just asks me.
>>329504323
for me its the opposite. i tell them exactly wht to do but they're stubborn so they'll try everything BUT the thing i told them to do. my friend in high school was a real shitter when I told him how to solve a puzzle in skyrim but he fucked around for 30 mins before he did what i told him
I'm always helpful with my backseat gaming, i'll just point out whit they missed or if there's an enemy coming up behind them.
>>329502861
Yeah, I am. Usually because different people can approach the same game differently. I've had other players point out details in games I have played that I didn't even bother noticing.
>>329503227
Sounds like she's pretending to suck because she likes you helping her
>>329502861
during livestreams i'm chill but irl i get pissy, and if the person playing is a friend i shittalk
>>329502861
Not really I might occasionally tell them if they're doing something wrong or not making use of a mechanic that is essential to the game but a majority of the time I'll probably be quiet unless they ask for help and hand me the controller or some shit
8.4 is the last mario stage
Yeah I played through Dark Alliance 2 with my gf who basically hadn't played a game since the NES.
I'm patient.
But it eats me up inside when I've solved the puzzle instantly and they're taking ten+ minutes.
TURN TO THE RIGHT
TO THE RIGHT
RIGHT AND UP

help what am I doing with my life
I can usually hold on longer. I try to give advice or hints and be open about the fact that I'm trying to help without trying to take over, since I've usually already beaten it or learned about it. I never demand controllers, but I'll start openly insulting you if you keep pulling some shit like >>329502861
>>329502861
My sister is horrid at vidya but a great sport. She gets fucking rekt in MGS4 and begs for tips but I just give her terrible advice.
>when you fight laughing octopus be sure to look out for otacon and naomi, you need to save them
Good times.

I was interested in The Witness so I watched a couple of streamers on Twitch play some of it.
Holy shit, people are so fucking stupid. It made me want to buy the game just to prove I wasn't retarded.

People who were seniors in high school when Skyrim came out are 21-22 now.

Wouldn't be real friends if you didn't rip into each other hard style.

>we're actually, at this point, right now, in 2016, 16 years ago was Y2K, 9/11 was almost 15 years ago
>>329502861
I don't actively watch someone play. I'm ok to sit in the same room and do something else while they play though. Backseat gaming is annoying and ruins the fun for the player.
>>329504756
Right. Passing the controller should be the last resort. And even then just show them and pass it back.

The Lion King came out 22 years ago.
Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight was 19 years ago.
On June 23, the N64 will be twenty.
